3 killed in blast near Kabul cricket stadium; all players, fans safe, play resumed immediately  – One Stop For All Afghanistan Latest News

By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: At least three people were killed and five others wounded Wednesday after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at a checkpoint near Kabul International Cricket Stadium, where the Shpageeza Cricket League was going on. However, cricket match resumed immediately after the attack and all the players are safe and sound, a cricket official said.

“A suicide bomber detonated his explosive near cricket stadium at 3:30pm,” Najib Danish, deputy spokesman for the ministry of interior said.

“According to initial reports, three people including a police officer have been killed, and five others wounded in the incident,” he added.

He furthered the blast took place away from cricket stadium, where no players and audiences were harmed.

The Spokesperson of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Fareed Hotak said that the match has been ongoing in the stadium normally. Shpageeza Cricket League season kicked off on Monday and is scheduled to run through to September 22 at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium.

He added that around 30 foreign players and coach were attended the Shpagiza League, where different teams from Afghanistan are competing with each other.

However, the cricket match has been resumed immediately after blast, and a large number of audiences were cheering without any concern. Though, the Afghan enemies would make efforts to sabotage this great game, but failed.

Resumed of cricket match can be consider is a great slap in the face of the enemies, who even can’t tolerate sport progress in Afghanistan.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
