No One Allowed To Interfere In Sports Affairs, Massoud

Kabul (BNA) President’s special representative on reform and good governance, Ahmad Zia Massoud, in a meeting with Afghanistan Football Federation officials listened to their problems and demands, Bakhtar News Agency reported.
According to the agency, Ahmad Zia Massoud in a media briefing after his visit from football federation said government is trying to institutionalize sport in Afghanistan, adding appointing of the chairman and members of the federations belonging to national and international sport association and chairman as well as members of the football federation to be also appointed through the open votes of the provincial football chief and direct supervision of the FIFA association.
According to president’s special representative on reform and good governance, no government official and parliament members were allowed to interfere in the voting process.
Ahmad Zia Masoud called on people and businessmen to sport sports in Afghanistan, adding no language and ethnic issues affect sport in Afghanistan, which will totally destroy the achievements made and would be a great injustice to new generation of Afghanistan, the agency added.
“Football has made much progress and gained so many achievements which has bolstered spirit of national solidarity in the country,”  Masoud said, adding such spirit should be promoted instead of being destroyed by the individuals’ interests.
